New DT announced!

Ok this was the hardest thing I had to do! I thought the 1st round was hard but this one was near impossible! there were so many wonderful entries! Last time I took th etime to email every person even if they didnt make it, and this time there is just so many I honestly cant do that I do appologize. If you put in an application thank you sooooooo much! you all really did make my job sooooo hard! and if you didnt make it its only a 3 month term so I hope you'll be ready to try again in 2 months!
So I know I said I was going to pick 7...well honestly it was really really hard because when it came doen to it i really couldn't do it! so I decided this term I was not going to do guest designers...with such a short term it is just to omuch of a hassle to do guest designers, and well last round we lost a few people prematurely which was kind of hard because we were left short and i had to bring in replacements (Cassie and Sara) which was not a problem at all I love having them as part of my team but I know it had to be hard to step in right in the middle, so this round I will have more than enough so if anyone has to take a leave early it wont leave us short soooooo without further adue...
We have 9 new Sassy Sisters joinging the SSD Design Team!!!
SO...I know your excited but before I go into that I wanna do a quick announcement of who is sticking around as part of the leadership team!
Jacquie - Party Planner and Sassy Saturdays
Valerie - Challenge Coordinator
Piali - Sponsorships
Lelia - Studio Sundays
Cassie - PCP and SCS liason
these ladies will be returning and helping to share in the responsability of making SSD run smoothly for all of you
unfortunately Margie will not be returning next term but I am sure we will still see her around I want to thank Margie for being a part of the 1st ever SSD DT she is extremely talented and was a pleasure to have. We will all miss her so much! SO Margie thank you so much for being a part of this journey with me and helping to make it such a wonderful begining!
ok ok I know you wanna see who made the team!
without further adue....
SARA MORENO
JEN SHULTS
CATHRYN EDGAR
LAUREL SEABROOK
LARISA HOHMAN
ANITA KOCOUREK
GINI WILLIAMS
SUSAN KILLAM
LISA FUTCH
So congrats to these lovely ladies, and to those whos names are not included I appologize I couldnt get individual email out this round but I really do appreciate every single entry and it sincerely was a very very very tight race so to speak so keep an eye out in february for details on the next call out.
So I know we dont have a release on the 1st we are taking a lil vacation, but on the 1st we will be introducing all the new DT members with a lil bio some samples of what they have created using SSD images etc so we hope you will stop in and join us in welcoming the new team.... and who knows there might be something in it for you guys too ;)
have a happy new years!
Lindsay

Princess and the frog CHallenge Winner

So as a quick recap, We did a special Challenge in honor of the Princess and the Frog movie, We had some wonderful entries!!! the requirement was to do something that inspired by the movie so it could be princessy...frogish (lol ok i made it up lol) or mardi gras-ish etc
One winner would get a special prize package including

Princess Penelope, Masquerade, Princess and the Frog, The Frog Prince, True Loves Kiss, Fairytale Sentiments and 3 other SSD images of their choice!!! What a prize that is!!!

so....after the delay of not being around and still trying to catch up i finally selected a winner today!

This was simply fabulous!!! I love how she used the frogs on the front but when you open it up you are surprised with this wonderful scene featuring true loves kiss and the ball room scene. the sentiment on the left says " sometimes you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince charming" and the sentiment on teh right says "Happily ever after" both from the SSD fairytale sentiment set
So Gini email me at sassystudiodesigns@yahoo.com to claim your prize!

Happy Monday the 28th!

Hello Everyone It's Lindsay again!
I wanted to get one and say a belated MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone from me!
I appologize I havent been around much at all in the last 2 weeks or so. I have fallen behind on Birthdays so if you had sent in your birhdays and you hadnt recieved your free image from me yet you will I am catching up on all that stuff today! And I had a custom image I was doing I didnt get out and well lots of emails I hadnt answered, and of course I have not yet announced a new DT yet....SO I am trying to get all those thing sout today!!!
My Christmas was Wonderful however the time leading up to it was filled with a little bit of heartache and stress. My dog had a little accident and broke off one of her nails...the entire thing! so we had to have a minor surgical proceedure done which was unexpected on the budget so close to christmas. notonly that she has to keep it dry and clean so she has had to stay inside for the last 2 weeks! so i had to take my cat to my parents to visist and the dog stays here everynight...everyday i try to bring her to my parents house for a few hours at least so she can have a yard to be in (my parents havent been watering there lawn so its been great!) and she can play with their Chow a lil bit...but she barks at night so my dad doesnt want her waking up the neighborhood so I bring her back to my place ...she doesnt bark when she is inside.
So that was our 1st lil problem...the 2nd....we had a loss in the family
Chris's Favorite Grandfather passed away. The one he was the closest with he spent a lot of time with growing up etc so it was especially hard because it was unexpected.
of course Christmas was great and eventful though and we kept Chris's Grandpa in our thoughts and prayers. my sister hoseted Christmas eve dinner at her home! it was 1 year that they had been in their house! so that was exciting! we then went to church for the chior concert at 11 and midnight mass following that. Christmas morning Chris and I opened a few small gifts (the real gift this year is we are buying a house!!!!) we had some breakfast and had to finish my dads Christmas gift lol (Chris and I designed a custom coat of arms for my dads library in his house! my dad built his library a few years ago and we have bought him leather bound nice books before and we have bought wood boxed board games that look like books and i thought what about a nice decanter but he already has one, and well my dad doesnt smoke so a humidor was out so what else goes in a formal library ya know? so I bought a nice 8x8 frame, and chris did some hand drawing i did some computer rendering and then I colored it by hand with my copics and prismacolors...it turned out great! ) we went to my parents and opened gifts with my sister and her husband and then we ate dinner and then my 2 cousins came over so they could open their gifts, then we went to the movies and saw sherlock holmes as a family. Saturday my parents had their company chritmas party at their house so after chris and I did some morning shopping he hee (gotta catch some of those after christmas sales ya know he hee) we helped set up and then enjoyed the party including pool, kereoke, christmas movies and lots and lots of food!
on Sunday we went to church a bit later than normal so we could be there at the mass the priest did a special blessing for some family friend celebrating their 25th anniversary that day! how great is that! Then we went to the other side of town for some more shopping lol we needed new jeans....and I bought my 1st ever pair of skinny jeans! lol ok so they still are a bigger size than I would like I am going to keep up with my weightwatchers, but at least they fit well and looked good so that was a bit exciting. and then we had a family dinner at the neighbors house....it's our anual tradition every year we have a christmas dinner with them and its always the same...lasagna!!! and it is some of the best ever!!!
So I just wanted to share with you a lil of what I have been up to, and today I am getting all caught up! so if you are expecting a birthday image or a custom image they are going out today, and i will also be sending out invites to those who were selected for our new dt , and as soon as i hear from them if they accept I will be announcing it here so keep and eye out.
I hope everyone had a wonderful christmas!!!

Studio Sunday #11

Happy Sunday All! I hope everyone is getting ready for Christmas! I know I am! Its great to take a lil break from having to design and not worry about a release on Jan 1st I finished the last of my Christmas Shopping today!! yay!!! and monday I will do all my baking for my cookie exchange!
Today held a few surprises though...Last night Hubby and I decided to spend the night at my dads trailor at the property we keep our dog at along with my dads 3 dogs....well this morning we wake up its bright and sunny and great and we notice our dog is missing one of her claws!!! one nail is completely gone!!! so we had to take her to the vet and $150 proceedure to cut it back and carterize it and bandage it and antibiotics etc etc etc lol she is fine and it should grow back fine she has to stay inside for 5 days though...her bandage can not get wet at all!!! soooooo I had to take my cat to my parents house (she is not happy with me this is the 3rd time this month because when hubby and I did the 2 youth retreats the1st 2 weekends this month she had to go stay with my parents while we were away) and the dog now gets to stay inside our house (I wouldnt have asked that of my parents they have too nice of furniture lol and well I dont he hee) so she has been good so far she just slept a lot today but i swear I love my dog but we have had her less than a year and it sems like we are always having to go to the vet there is always something wrong lol poor baby
So anyway.... enough about me, on to the tutorial!!!
Ok I know some of you may have done this before but this is a lil different take...
Peppermint Patties!!
Materials needed are:
Glue dots
adhesive
1 1/2" scalloped circle punch
and 1 1/4" circle and 1" circle cutters or punches
and of course ppermint patties!!
close up on 1" cameos ( Icolored mine on thecomputer and printed them out at the size I wanted)
So I decided to start with 9 patties so I did 2 1 1/2" scalloped circles for each patty in green cardstock
and I did 2 1 1/4" circle cuts out of a lightgreen polkadot cardstock for 6 of the patties
and 6 1" SSD Cameos colored and punched out
for the other 3 I did 1 1/4" circle SSD cameos colored and cut out
so here is style 1 front on the top and back on the bottom this style I did the 1" cameos and layers with 1 1/4" circles

I put glue dots on all the bottoms an dplaced my peppermint patties centered on them

I then placed glue dots on the tops and tried to line up the scallops with the bottom the best I could and glue the tops to the patties

the 2nd style I did I cut out the middle layer and just cutout my cameos at 1 1/4" I did the same thing and glued them to the tops of the patties

here are all of them lined up (both styles)
I know these are simple but they are a great lil goodie to glue onto a envie for cards you hand out personally or to glue to the top of a bow on a christmas present, just to use one your table setting or in a dish of candy, or use them in a fun way...create a bunch using 2 different colorings and set them up on your checkers board or chess board you could designate characters for each piece or maybe adorn your own advent tree and hang it on the wall the posibilities are endless

so if you wanan try out something using this technique I hope you do and share it with us
Lindsay

(PS I know we are littl ebehind on teh last fe 25 days of christmas ill get those caught up real quick here I promise)

Sassy Studio Tutorial #10

Welcome to another fun Sassy Studio. This is my first time creating a tutorial and I really hope I am doing this right :) I got so many comments about the notecards I posted on my blog awhile back that I asked Lindsey if I could do a tutorial here on them. I got this great from another blog and really liked how she created these great simple notecards for quick gifts. (Now I just need to come up with a great way to package them)

Supplies:
c/s stock (Gina K. is great for not bleeding through I've been told, but I used PTI and got a little bleed through on it)
copics for coloring in the images
you images (I am using three of the images being released on 12/15)
your computer and printer for the images :)
and a black pen - I used Copic's .1 multiliner (or another color of choice)

The first thing I did was open up the computer program I use for my Sassy images (I use PSE 6), open a blank 8.5x11 page as well as the images I wanted to use. Once they were all opened I pulled the images over to my blank sheet and shrank them to a size I liked and put them in their final place. Since these notecards are 4.25 x 5.5 in size the images were place in the lower left and righter corner leaving about a 1/4 of an inch on the sides of them from the edge.

Once I got them placed where I wanted them I printed out my page and cut them apart.

I colored my images after I cute them and them with a pencil I lightly marked all sides at the 1/4" mark and then connected them.

After the borders were all traced out I then went back with my black pen and drew the border box leaving some space around each image. Then I went back to a couple of the images and added either some glitter or glossy accent for a little extra touch of pow.

These were make great stocking stuffers or even teacher gifts. I can't wait to see what ya'll come up with.

~Sassy Cassie
